Hello, my name is Martijn van Oers and since 2018 I work full-time at the company of my parents: Joost and Edith van Oers. They started growing beefsteak tomatoes in 1989. Because Edith grew up on an outdoor strawberry farm, her interest in this crop always remained. In 1993, in addition to growing tomatoes, they also started growing outdoor strawberries. Soon after, the greenhouse was converted for growing strawberries as well. We produce strawberries almost all year round. This is made possible by assimilation lighting with different varieties and planting dates. All our products are grown on substrate and in greenhouses in the most sustainable way possible. We use CHP's to provide the company with its own electricity and heat. We also use biological pesticides as much as possible. To keep the quality of the strawberries high, we take care of the propagation and the growing of the plant material ourselves. The strawberry varieties we grow are: Sonata, Elsanta and Sonsation. Besides that we also carry out trials with ''new'' varieties to keep up with what is possible to serve the market as well as possible. Before I started working full-time for my parents, I completed the business administration course at the HAS University of Applied Sciences in Den-Bosch.
