In 2003, I joined my husband's parents' business. This company specializes in leek cultivation but also has several secondary crops, such as lettuce, potatoes, cauliflower, and white cabbage. These crops are typical for our region. At that time, I was teaching in primary school, and after 5 years, I had the opportunity for a permanent position. At that moment, I faced a difficult choice: a full-time position in education or fully joining the company of my husband and his parents. I chose the latter, but the company was essentially fully established, and I still wanted a challenge. Therefore, we decided to build something from the ground up that we could later be proud of. We quickly built the existing plastic greenhouse for strawberries, and we invested in a glass heated greenhouse. This way, we have strawberries almost all year round. Randy takes care of the crop, and I am responsible for the paperwork and the day-to-day operations with the staff. Growing strawberries is intensive but also very beautiful and challenging. You have to be on your toes and coordinate everything well because the quality and presentation of the strawberries are extremely important. The consumer has high expectations, and we want to meet and even exceed those expectations! It is becoming our life's work!
